How many times have you realized how strong you are as a woman? I remember in the 1970’s when my kids were small and we lived in a house with so many trees in the backyard that the grass wouldn’t grow. I took an ax, couldn’t afford a chain saw, and spent most of the summer chopping down trees to allow the other trees to spread their branches and to let the sun through to grow the grass. I was physically STRONG. I also remember the time when my marriage went bad and I was beaten, raped and ridiculed and I made the decision to leave and I was emotionally STRONG. There are so many times throughout my entire life where I’ve been strong. As I look around at the women in my life, I see unbelievable strength in them all. I started painting a series of these women last summer. It’s not finished yet but I wanted to share some of those portraits here. Stay STRONG my loves. You have more strength than even you know.
